How to remove the old FSX before installing FSX-SE

Before you start with the installation of FSX-SE it is our recommendation to uninstall the previous FSX version. FSX is dead! Be happy with Steam! Read the easy way to remove your previous FSX installation.

  1. The easy way:
    1. Go to Start/Program and Features/ and select the previous FSX installation in Uninstall or change a program.
    2. Uninstall FSX and when you have FSX+SP2 installed, it will return with FSX-SP1. Check the version number.
    3. Now, uninstall again FSX; it will no longer be in the list of Programs and Features.
    4. Clean your registry with CCleaner or another registry cleaner and repeat the cleaning until there are  zero faults.
    5. The remaining folders in the still existing FSX installation folder contains important stuff that you added previously (FSUIPC Key, aircraft, add-on scenery, a.s.o.).
    6. Rename you rinstallation folder and move it to your backup location. You will need it later on.
    7. Reboot the system and ceck if all the previous registrations are gone in the registry; therefore use the TweakFSX Registry tool as mentioned HERE. Try to find the previous FSX path. If there’s nothing found, you’re clean and then install FSX-SE else you need to go into the registry manualy and delete the remaining registry entry as indicated in the tool. You will read the registry key as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_SOFTWAREMicrosoft…and the installation path of y0ur previous installation
    8. How to get into the registry? In Windows 8 just type regedit @Start and hit ENTER
    9. [tweakfs01]

Only delete the registry entries shown here, when uninstalling boxed version of FSX.
Once FSX:SE is then installed, this entry will be present again – so don’t delete it after the installation of FSX-SE! …
Only delete it just
before you do a clean install of FSX-SE

Installation path lost in FS9 or FSX?

FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB) – This tool will repair your FSX or FS9 registry so that the path is valid. Many times certain applications use this path. If it is invalid, some programs may not work.

FSX crash caused by simprop.dll

One of our regular visitors ran in a severe problem after he had repaired FSX using the DvD’s. After starting FSX the sim crashed and with the event manager it indicates that simprop.dll (in the root of FSX) was the fault module. Before the repair action FSX was in SP2 mode (without Acceleration).
Resolution: After a repair action with the DVD’s you must run the SP1 servicepack as well as the SP2 servicepack. First run SP1 and then start FSX in default flight. Close FSX, then run SP2. When starting SP2 you will see no option to install….only to uninstall, so uninstall.  After uninstall, re-run SP2 again, start FSX and your problem with simprop.dll is solved.

P3Dxx Customizing Shift+Z Information

In P3D we have the ability to customize the information shown at the top of the screen when you press “shift+z

In the [CONTROLS] section of Prepar3D.cfg there are headings of [TextInfo.1] [TextInfo.2] [TextInfo.3] and [SlewTextInfo.1] [SlewTextInfo.2] [SlewTextInfo.3].

These sections define what will be seen each time you press shift+z when in normal or slew modes. You can create as many of these as you can stand to cycle through.

Under each of the sub-sections described above are variable names followed by =X,X where the X’s are numbers. These numbers define the line and placement on the line.
So ::

[TextInfo.1]
Latitude=1,1
Longitude=1,2
means that on the first press of shift+z the latitude will be displayed on line one in the first spot on the line and Longitude will be displayed on the same line just to the right of latitude.

For better readability you may want to add a line like this:

[TextInfo.1]
BackGroundColor.1=255,255,255,255
//added for better visisbility R,G,B,A where R,G,B represents the color and A equals a percentage  of transparency. 0%=255; 50% = 128; 100%=0

If you want to repeat this modification for all TextInfo sections, copy this line in each section.

In the example below, on the third press of shift+z, there are six different values on the first line and four values on the second line.

[TextInfo.3]
Latitude=1,1
Longitude=1,2
Altitude=1,3
Heading=1,4
AirSpeed=1,5
WindDirectionAndSpeed=1,6
FrameRate=2,1
LockedFrameRate=2,2
GForce=2,3
FuelPercentage=2,4
You can have as many lines of information as you want on any given press of shift+z, but you do need to be aware of how much horizontal space a given line will take up across the screen.

Below is the list of variables you can display using shift+z. Using the format described above, you can put them in any order you want. I personally am using “HeadingTrue” on my slew info because occasionally we want to aim with the aircraft to help define an appropriate heading for something in a mission and all the mission objects are based on true heading instead of magnetic heading (the variable of just “Heading” is actually magnetic heading and is displayed as MAG on-screen).
I also find TrueAirspeed and AltitudeAGL helpful on occasion as well.

List of variables:
Latitude, LatitudeDec, LatitudeHex, Longitude, LongitudeDec, LongitudeHex
Altitude, AltitudeAgl, Heading, HeadingHex, HeadingTrue
Airspeed, TrueAirspeed,
WindDirectionAndSpeed, WindSpeed, WindDirection
FrameRate, LockedFrameRate
GForce
FuelPercentage, FuelRemainingGallons, FuelRemainingPounds
VerticalSpeed
AngleOfAttack
VideoDevice
AverageFrameRate

4GB Patch for FSX.EXE

Lets’ start with current available information from MSDN:
On 32-bit editions of Windows, applications have 4 gigabyte (GB) of virtual address space available. The virtual address space is divided so that 2 GB is available to the application and the other 2 GB is available only to the system.
The 4-gigabyte tuning (4GT) feature, formerly called 4GT RAM Tuning, increases the virtual address space that is available to the application up to 3 GB, and reduces the amount available to the system to between 1 and 2 GB.
For applications that are memory-intensive, such as our FSX app, the use of a larger virtual address space can provide considerable performance and scalability benefits.

However, the file cache, paged pool, and nonpaged pool are smaller, which can adversely affect applications with heavy networking or I/O. Therefore, you might want to test your application under load, and examine the performance counters to determine whether your application benefits from the larger address space.
To enable 4GT, use the BCDEdit /set command to set the increaseuserva boot entry option to a value between 2048 (2 GB) and 3072 (3 GB).
The /3GB switch is supported on 32-bit editions like Windows XP Professional, VISTA, W7X32.

The /3GB switch makes a full 3 GB of virtual address space available to applications and reduces the amount available to the system to 1 GB. On Windows Server 2003, the amount of address space available to applications can be adjusted by setting the /USERVA switch in Boot.ini to a value between 2048 and 3072, which increases the amount of address space available to the system. This can help maintain overall system performance when the application requires more than 2 GB but less than 3 GB of address space.

To enable an application to use the larger address space, set the IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag in the image header. The linker included with Microsoft Visual C++ supports the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE switch to set this flag. Setting this flag and then running the application on a system that does not have 4GT support should not affect the application.

On 64-bit editions of Windows, 32-bit applications marked with the IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag have 4 GB of address space available.

fsx_exe_4GB.PNGThis very little tool patches our x86 executable fsx.exe in order to let it have 4GB (instead of only 2GB) of virtual memory on x64 platforms. To gain these 2GB, you just have to use this tool to patch the executable (*.exe file) of the software you want to have these additional GB’s of virtual memory.

You can download the tool from this website.
It can be used by clicking on it and choosing the file or through command line (e.g.: “4gb_patch file.exe”).
It automatically creates a backup copy of the original executable.

A modified fsx.exe (SP2) is available upon request via our download page.

UIAutomationCore.dll fix for FSX W7-64

This fix is not applicable for FSX-Steam Edition

This is a fix to stop FSX crashing when running Windows 7-64 in free flight and MP Sessions. These are the steps you must follow:

  1. Download UIAutomationcore.zipYou are advised to go to the download page. You will find the file in the FS-Software folder.
  2. Unpack the ZIP file and place the extracted UIAutomationCore.dll in the root of your FSX installation folder where the file fsx.exe resides. Make sure FSX is not running.
  3. After this action, start FSX and you will find that switching views in FSX, no longer eventually causes FSX to crash.

Without this fix, FSX will hang as well as you will be “timed out” in a multi player session.

The file version of UIAutomationCore.dll, you need to place into your FSX directory, is the File version: 6.0.6001.18000 (148k) with
Date modified 1/20/2008 9:24 PM.

Do not use any other versions, since this version is the only version that will stop the crashes.

…and the prove that the UIAutomationCore.dll is called by FSX:

Water Shader File Editor

FS Water Configurator, the world’s first water shader-file editor for Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

With the release of Flight Simulator X, Microsoft have added many new graphical features to the Flight Simulator franchise. People are in awe of the fantastic effects such as light bloom, bump mapping, increased autogen levels, and wet taxiway and runway effects. However, no other addition to the engine has had a greater impact on the community than the all-new water reflections.

In past versions of Flight Simulator the water that was presented used barely-visible animations, very limited graphical effects and a reflection effect that was typically used for every reflective object in the simulation. Thus this reflection was always static and never indicative of its surroundings.

As with all games and applications, people expect improvements to be made with new releases, improvements that present newer, more advanced techniques that can improve the overall experience in one way or another. These improvements often come in a variety of forms. In the Flight Simulator world the 3rd party addon is the king of upgrades.Sample-Tool-1.jpg

In Flight Simulator X the reflections and other effects are defined using Direct X shaders. By default, the water shader file that comes with the simulation yields only one level of reflection, and includes sun lighting, moon lighting and base texture saturation levels. All these values are static making the water behave and appear the same in all situations, a trait which isn’t good as in the real world time, weather conditions and location play a big part in the look of water.

FS Water Configurator was created to change all that by replacing the default water shader file with its own. This file presents two levels of reflection and all other effects that are present in the default file, the values of which are all editable through a user-friendly interface. This allows anyone to change the water’s appearance to take on any characteristics they wish only by adjusting a few sliders and pressing a button.

With FSWC you can make the water look however you want. You can make it look extreme or ‘as real as it gets…’

FS10 installeren

Grootte: 13,0 Gb (13.993.566.208 B) zijnde 41964 bestanden in 1358 mappen.

2. SP1 installeren (bestandsnaam: fsx_sp1_ENU 208.0 Mb)
Na installeren is het versienummer verhoogd naar 10.0.61355 fsx_sp1.20070510-2038
OS: W7, W8, W8.1
Grootte: 13,0 gB (13.975.834.624 B) zijnde 42016 bestanden in 1358 mappen.

3. SP2 installeren (bestandsnaam fsx_sp2_ENU 166 Mb)
Na installeren is het versienummer verhoogd naar 10.0.61472 fsx_sp2.20071210-2023
Grootte: 13,2 Gb (14.273.191.936 B) zijnde 42355 bestanden in 1371 mappen.

STOP hier, want nu gaan we FSX Configureren.
====================================================

60905 is FSX zonder service packs

Controleer even of FSX nu gewoon goed draait.
