About P3D scenery.cfg

By default the scenery.cfg is written to C:/ProgramData/LockheedMartin/Prepar3D.
This folder is created  with a fresh install and updated with a clean shutdown. If the sim does not shutdown correctly, the data will not be written and Prepar3D will have to rebuild it on start up.

This folder is a hidden folder, so you have to go into Organize >>Folder and search options>>View and radio mark the Show hidden files, folders, or drives option in the Advanced settings of Hidden files and folders.

To generate a fresh scenery.cfg just rename the Scenery.cfg into scenery_old.cfg and restart the sim. The scenery database will rebuild.

After this action you get once a quick Completing setup notice when restarting the sim.

In fact there are 3 scenery.cfg files in your installation:

  1. in the root of your P3D installation
  2. in the folder C:/Users/jouwnaam/AppData/Roaming/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D
  3. in the folder C:/ProgramData/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D/

DO NOT DELETE #1 OR #2 !
In the 3rd scenery.cfg in folder C:/ProgramData/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D/ you will read the added areas. There might be a misalignment with the area numbering; have a check.
