How to organize your flight plans.


… just a simple one …

  1. Create 2 folders
    1. IFR Flight Plans
    2. VFR Flight Plans
    3. Move all your IFR and VFR flight plans to the folders you created.
  2. Create a new flight (e.g. VFR Eindhoven …) and save.
  3. In the menu bar go to Navigation > Flight Planner > Load
  4. You will find your new created flight plan on top of the view.
  5. Scrolling down first the IFR plans are shown followed by the VFR plans.
  6. This method keeps your flight database clean and clear, showing the Last flight.* (created by FSUIPC5), a situational file LIRA* and the Previous Flight.*
  7. Move the files that you don’t need to a folder C:\Users\yourname\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Files\zremoved

 

Flight 32 Extending your OBS skills


This flight begins at Alexandra, New Zealand (NZLX), and concludes at Queens-town, New Zealand (NZQN). The distance is about 120 nm and will take approximately fifty five minutes to complete. You will be placed on the runway at Alexandra, New Zealand in a Piper PA-28.
This flight is a scenic tour of some the hills and valleys of New Zealand and utilizes a single VOR/DME for navigation. This flight will extend your flight skills using OBS.

Departure:
We will depart from runway 32 with an initial heading of 305 degrees with an altitude of 6.500 feet. The airport elevation is 755 ft. After takeoff, make a climbing 500 FPM right turn to 305deg towards your cruise altitude of 6,500ft.
Tune Nav 1 to QN VOR/DME (113.60) (or SH VOR/DME (113.60) and set the OBS to 261deg.
Waypoint reached when the OBS needle centers. Course 305 Distance 10.7 nm.


Turn right to 350 deg and set the OBS to 222 deg.
Way-point when the OBS needle centers. Course 350; distance 16. nm
Turn left to 283 deg, head up the valley and set the OBS to 178 deg.

Turn right to 297 deg and set the OBS to 163 deg.

Turn left to 243 deg, head up the valley and set the OBS to 152 deg.

Turn right to 263 deg, head towards the slight dip in the mountain in front of you and set the OBS to 144 deg.  Way-point reached when the OBS needle centers. Course 263; distance 4.4 nm.
Turn left to 226 deg, head along the valley in front of you  and set the OBS to 141 deg.
Way-point reached when the OBS needle centers. Course 226; distance 1.3 nm
Turn left to 208 deg, head along the valley in front of you and set the OBS to 133 deg.
Way-point reached when the OBS needle centers. Course 208; distance 4.4 nm
Turn right to 245 deg, head along the valley in front of you and set the OBS to 123 deg.
Way-point reached when the OBS needle centers. Course 240; distance 6.0 nm
Turn left to 190 deg, head along the valley in front of you and set the OBS to 115 deg.
Way-point reached when the OBS needle centers. Course 190; distance 4.4 nm.
Approach:  Turn left to 153 deg, and keep to the center of the lake as it turns to the left beneath you.  Set the OBS to 036 deg.
When you see clear water ahead, start descending to 2,500 ft.
Way-point reached when the OBS needle centers. Course 143; distance 29.9 nm.
 
Turn left to 032 deg and keep to the left of the lake. You will see the PAPI lights
To runway. 
Turn right to 051 deg  for a visual approach.

Airport elevation 1.171 ft
